My sweet boy loves….errr sometimes likes …. hmmm… absoultely hates taking pictures in front of mommy’s camera… 🙂
I can’t tell you how many clients have said to me something like this: “You must have so many great pictures of your son! You must be in the studio all the time with him trying out new things!” Not so much. Lets start from the beginning… Sam’s newborn session? hahaha! I think that was the worst newborn session I have ever had. It could have been the fact that I was a new mom, still in pain a bit, nervous about having a little one of my own… sure we’ll say that’s what it is. Lets continue…
Bringing Sam down into the studio… boy does he loves it here! Sam adores pulling all of my props off of the shelf, playing with my huge relflector disk, and even collapsing into my newborn bean bag. But should I move any of these items to the back side of the studio where all of the shooting takes place? Little man will erupt into tears! It really is rather comical now that I am thinking about it… but so sad for a mommy photographer!
This brings me to the following set of images. I have been so excited to play around with my new studio lighting. As most of you know, up until now, I have been primarily a natural light photographer. While I adore what can be achieved with natural light, I have ben really dissapointed with some of the darker days we have had here in the studio and how it has affected my workflow. It really makes my post processing that much longer to correct what I may not be able to achieve in camera… and to all of my photog friends out there, it is SO important to get it right IN camera. In photography, good lighting is everything. Really. So after much thought, I have decided to pull in a fabulous lighting unit and oversized softbox for more consistency in my product. As I was working on my new setup, I really needed a little subject to practice on. I decided to try bringing my little man to the “bad” side of the studio just one more time… and well…
And you have to know, I am truly one of those moms who hates hearing my precious baby cry… but how adorable is that pout?!?! Lets see it again in full color…
Oh and this one… literally makes me want to laugh out loud and run to go hold him this very second all at the same time…
This last image was after he had calmed down… I was happy to get one where he didn’t look utterly petrified! I really do adore this child. He is such an amazing kid… not to mention such a stud muffin! He gets that from his mom and dad… 😉
