Jamie and Jon brought the southern hospitality and charm to RI last month when this Virginia-residing couple married in Newport. While Jamie is original from New England, much of Jon’s family and friends had never experienced the area, so Regatta Place seemed like the perfect location to celebrate their wedding. I adored working with this group, and smiled every time I saw the way Jon looked at his beautiful bride. Such a lovely couple and such a lovely day! Read on to hear more of what Jamie and Jon had to say about their wedding!
Q-What was the inspiration behind your wedding? ”
Throughout planning, we focused a lot on the type of experience that we wanted our guests to have. A lot of family and friends had never been to New England before, never mind Rhode Island, so we knew that we wanted to show them the best of what the state has to offer. We chose our ceremony location on the grounds of Salve Regina University because, surrounded by the mansions, it would take our guests back in time to the Gilded-Age of Newport. However, for the reception, we knew we wanted a more laid-back atmosphere. Regatta Place was the perfect location for our guests to experience the rich sailing history and nautical atmosphere that Newport is famous for.”
Q-What detail did you love or treasure the most about your wedding?
“One of my favorite details of the day was the bottles of homemade limoncello and moonshine that we gave out as favors to our guests. We wanted to give them something that was homemade and would also reflect who we were. I made the limoncello to incorporate my Italian heritage, while Jon distilled the moonshine, adding in a touch of his Southern upbringing.”
Those glorious last few minutes of daylight out on the docks…
My adorable husband was there of course with Rock Your Booth!! And it was so. much. fun!
MIB2 totally rocked the party!
Q-What advice would you offer to our future brides and grooms?
Have fun and let loose! When all is said and done you may not remember if every small detail went according to plan, but you will never forget the energy, emotion, and love that you felt on your day.
Q-What detail did you love or treasure the most about your wedding?
One moment that we will always remember is having a boat take us away from Regatta Place at the end of the night. All of our family and friends gathered around the docks to send us off. After the whirlwind day, the boat ride was one of the first moments we had to be alone together and really reflect on being husband and wife. It was a perfect ending to a great evening.
