One of my goals for 2016 was to collaborate more with other talented vendors and create some amazing inspiration for our brides. I began planning this particular shoot with the very talented Nicole Mattiello from Pranzi Catering and Events, a one stop wedding experience from flowers, cake, and rentals to an incredible dining experience. It was SUCH an honor when Burnett’s Boards featured our shoot on their pages this past week. I have been a huge fan of Burnett’s Boards for some time now and it was such a joy seeing our work published there!
Sugared gold donuts, mini wedding cakes on each plate, burgundy peonies, a naked wedding cake with deep red and white layers: these were some of the items that I knew we had to have as I began planning with Nicole and a few of our favorite vendors.
The rest of the details came after and around our inspirations and we quickly came up with the theme “Rustic Glam” which really brought our plans together. Terrydiddle Farm, a hidden gem of Southeastern Massachusetts, quickly became the perfect setting for this inspiration shoot. Pranzi Catering outdid themselves with the lush tables design, which included burgundy peonies and dahlias accented with white garden roses, seeded eucalyptus, Queen Anne lace, brunia berry, Italian ruscus, red & blue pepperberry, red amaranthus (hanging flowers), and olive branches. To bring in more of that glam feel we wanted to show through, our florist sprayed many of our greens gold. The results were stunning! This all displayed in a gushy garland runner. Small breakouts with gold pleated votives were used to create a little height and dimension within the lush fillers and dark red blooms.
The classic china used was displayed on a wooden charger, giving the table an organic feel. On each setting was a sweet mini cake, which was actually created using cookies, each topped with berry and green. Gold flatware helped to further exude our glam concept.
We knew that the perfect cake for this inspiration shoot would be a naked cake, a trend we have watched take off this last year. This gorgeous confection, created by Pranzi, was composed of red and white layers and topped with red peonies and hanging berries. It was total perfection!
And then there were donuts! Donuts are a new trend that we are starting to see more and more of over this last year, so for this shoot, we brought in the best in Rhode Island! Allie’s donuts is famous for their products and many brides and grooms throughout Newport and beyond use them to bring something extra special for their wedding to guests. Julie, the granddaughter of the original owner at Allie’s, now handles all of the growing wedding demand at Allie’s with her side company, ‘Just Delicious Designs.’ I cannot say enough about how amazing these tasted and how beautiful and fun they looked amongst the burgundy florals and greens. What a fun compliment to any cake display and a great way to bring in a complimenting color on the palette!
Our bridal model, Laura, is the lovely owner Spark Bridal Outlet, which is actually RI’s only bridal outlet. They specialize in high-end designer gowns at a fraction of the cost while offering brides an intimate and personal boutique experience. For this shoot, we knew we wanted lace! This dress was an elegant and soft illusion lace gown with a stunning neckline by Roz La Kelin. The look was timeless and beautiful. At Terrydiddle, guests can enjoy the beautiful horses that the farm houses year round. Steve, the beautiful brown horse pictured in our shoot, completely captured the heart of Laura. She was absolutely swooning over him! You can see her excitement in the shots below. The interaction between the two were some of the most organic and fun images to capture of the entire shoot!Pretty paper items are always my favorite detail to photograph. Val from The Paper Perfectionist is truly a design genius. Val works with each and every one of her customers to create one of a kind designs based on their wedding themes and inspirations. No two invitations are ever the same! This shoot was no exception. Val listened to our ideas and then created rustic glam themed invitations elegant paper and print mounted on wood cutouts, bringing in our deep burgundy colors and gold accents. She also created the elegant place cards for each setting along with a matching menu card.
Thanks to all of the amazing vendors who helped make this session possible!
