I know i’ve said it before, but I work with the best couples! Kailey and Adam were so much fun and had such pretty details, many of which were created by Kailey herself, who is an amazing calligrapher! They ended the night with ice cream from Ben and Jerry’s and one huge party at the always stunning Regatta Place. Some of my favorite shots of the day were from our stop at Ochre Court, a meaningful location for the couple who spent their early dating year’s around these grounds as it was Kailey’s place of employment as a Salve alumni. The thing I won’t forget about this wedding? The way they looked at each other, the sheer excitement of the two to simply be married, the gift Adam sent to Kailey that morning that included all of the hand written notes he had written to her over the years (yes there were many tears). Sure the backdrop was stunning, but I think they could have married in the middle of a parking lot and would have been just as excited. Couples like Kailey and Adam are what this job is all about for me…
Q- What was your inspiration behind your wedding?
A- Overall we were hoping to achieve a classic and timeless ambiance were we could gather everyone we loved and they could have a blast celebrating with each other. We wanted the day to by classy but casual in a way that wasn’t too formal and everyone could relax and focus on enjoying the meaning of the day and each others company. We both are pretty creative and wanted to make sure that there were small detailed touches that made our guests feel special- things like my hand lettered signs and the individual thank you notes that were included in each place card, or the custom design we came up with for our koozie favor. I loved the soft colors that were incorporated into the flowers and pale dusty sage shade of the bridesmaids dresses. They were one of the first things I picked out and everything went from there. The soft and timeless inspiration was reflected in my dress with all of it’s simple delicate lace, as well as in Adam’s classic navy suit. Regardless of all of our choices aesthetically, in the end we were overjoyed most about how much everyone was able to enjoy their night to the fullest, dancing the night away, eating ice cream, and helping us to create a day we will never forget. Q- If you could pick one moment from your entire day to be your favorite, what would it be?
A- We both agreed that our favorite moment was the moment we looked up from both ends of the aisle as I entered the church to meet Adam. Before this moment there was so much anxious excitement building up all morning and it was such a sweep of emotions to finally see each other. Adam felt similarly and says he was overwhelmed with ‘how beautiful Kailey looked and thought that she was glowing’. I really cherished when I finally got down the aisle and my hands were put into his and we were truly going to promise our love to one another in front of all of our loved ones. Q- What detail did you love or treasure the most about your wedding?
A- We loved the personal influences that our family and friends were able to incorporate into the day. Adam’s uncle is a Deacon so he was able to be the one to observe our marriage rite and reflect in the homily which was so sweet and personal. We also had close friends say readings and our godparents involved in the preparations and giving of communion, we loved being able to have them involved. One of the most touching moments was when my sister, my maid of honor, and Adam’s brother, his best man, gave their toasts. Each were so touching and they really came from the heart. Everyone could feel the genuine compassion that was expressed through their kind words. And not for anything, the Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream bar was pretty awesome too 😉
Q-What advice would you offer to our future brides and grooms?
A- There were so many people who advised me before the wedding and said ‘enjoy it, it goes by so fast’ and I always heeded their recommendation but didn’t realize how true these intentions were until living through the day. It definitely is a whirlwind and almost surreal that you are actually living it. Adam and I were intentional about taking a moment or two to step back and look around to all of our loved ones surrounding us and soak in these special moments. One that especially sticks out is at the end of the night, our DJ took our last dance outside the deck under the lights and we had everyone gathered around us. They threw steamers in celebration and everyone was singing along with arms around one another. You could just feel the love and Adam and I whispered to each other, “Can you even believe this? Look how much we are loved. Soak it in, my love, we will remember this forever”!
